I'm not very far into the game, but it's starting to look like there's absolutely no map of any kind in this game. Combined with the "sticky compass" gimmick and the excruciatingly slow movement, even with autorun on, it seems that navigating around the gameworld is a huge chore. Does anyone know if the game eventually gives you a map? Also, how do you "use" better compasses when you get them? Does the game just automatically replace the compass with the best one in your inventory, or do you have to do something?

Edit to add: I've also noticed a pair of odd bugs (at least, I think they're bugs:) first, at some point, I've lost the ability to pick up a stack of e.g. arrows or gold in one click. For example, if I see a pile of gold on the ground, I have to "pick up" each gold piece in the pile individually - so if there's 24 gold in the pile, that's 24 clicks, and 24 animations of the character leaning over and picking up an item. The same is true of items like arrows that are often dropped in bunches. I'm almost positive that during my first few hours of playtime I did not have this issue.

Second, the game seems to randomly become confused as to where things are in relation to each other; for example, I entered the town elder's house in the first town, then went to exit, but instead of ending up back outside the house, my character was teleported into the apothecary's shop. Had a similar thing happen when traversing between maps in the first town - would head south out of one grid and end up in a random-seeming location in a grid I know for a fact is not connected.

Anyone experienced this? I'm particularly frustrated by the first issue.

I'm afraid that there is no map, but you'll eventually appreciate that. Slow down, absorb the atmosphere and immerse yourself.

I agree that the compass thing was a poor design choice. Just go buy a proper compass. Between that and the magic compass (and the path and soul seeking spells or staves) you should be find.

Hmm, normally, holding the control button lets you pick up one item in the stack. Try holding your control button.

Hi!

I would recommend this website for many of the maps:
