What the title says

Anyone has a clue? It mostly happens when I'm engaged by 2+ enemies.
My FPS just goes to hell, and I mean hell. Like 1-2 FPS.
No need to tell you I have a modern system, right?

Thanks :)

I had this problem too and it was driving me nuts but i think i found a way to fix it.
If you open the nvidea control panel and navigate to "Configure surround, PhysX" on the left and click the drop down menu under PhysX settings and set it to CPU and click apply it seems to fix it for me anyway.
tried it, and no sigar :(.

It occurs almost always when the soundgraph gives the alarm when in loud combat.
Sof1 it's a very old game and can't use Physx... same problem here, sometimes i got only 1-2 fps for many seconds...

i don't know if Sof1plus has the same bug or not

i'll check soon compatibility mode

gl_dynamic 0 sometimes can fix some slowdowns but i haven't tested it

note: i think that this game was optimized for 640x480 resolution... all other resolutions are only supported

and i can't select "lock" option, for that is needed Sof1plus... (it's caused by recent computers... in windows 98 compatibility mode still doesn't work)

this game support also 3dfx, i'll try dgvoodoo 2 soon (i need also scanlines, and dgvoodoo 2 include it)

Please, do report :).

It seems I'll actually have to run this game on my XP or Win98 machine instead of this WIN10 machine.

I'm not very into compatibility troubleshooting. I just google without really knowing what the fixes do. :)
I'm on windows 10 and every minute or 2, my framerate drops from a stable 60fps (vsync) to 2 or 3 fps.
But once I set sof.exe to windows 7 compatibility I don't have the issue anymore.
Right click sof.exe > click compatibility tab > check run this program in compatibility mode for > choose windows 7 from dropdown.

I tried windows 98 compatibility first but that didn't do anything, but windows 7 suprisingly works.
So if you have windows 10 and have these issues, definitely try it out.

Many thanks for your post about running Soldier of Fortune under Windows 7 compatibility. The game now works fine for me on Windows 10.
