Hey guys.

I picked up all three games yesterday after YEARS of hoping. I managed to install SofPlus for the first game no problem.
However, the graphics look strangely low quality as far as textures go. I’ve tried tweaking the settings to the best of my abilities but it still looks off somehow. How should I set things up to get the best visual experience?

The original game should look sharp and detailed with all the options maxed out.

With sofplus installed, these are the in-game video settings I am using which I believe were the highest options from back in the day:

DISPLAY SETTINGS

Ghoul Light Method : Hardware
Specular Lighting : On
Detail Texturing : On
Detail Texturing Range : Slider to right
Texture Mode : Trilinear
Anisotropic Filtering : On
Field Of View : VERT 78.6

VIDEO SYSTEM SETTINGS

Video Driver : QeffectsGL (QFX)
Full Screen : Yes
Bitdepth : 32 Bit
Alternative Simple Textures : Off
Texture Quality : High
Skin Texture Quality : High
Anisotropic Filtering : Slider to right
Texture magnification filter : Bilinear
Texture Format : DXT Compressed
Translucent Texture Format : DXT Compressed

GRAPHICAL SCALABILITY

Ghoul Light Method : Hardware
Shadow Quality : High
Specular Lighting : On
Detail Texturing : On
Detail Texturing Range : Slider to right
Number Of Decals : Slider to right
Effect Overdraw : Slider to right

GAME SCALABILITY

Corpse Duration : Very high
Model Expressions : Plenty
Skin Variety : Plenty

Also, make sure you tweak the 3D settings for your graphics card. 8x antialiasing seems to work fine but I turned off any transparency (supersampling) because it causes text corruption.

I am currently running at 1920x1080. You can run in 4K, but the HUD becomes so small it is unreadable, at least on my VDU.

On another note, EAX works fine with Creative ALchemy, but I noticed setting anything higher than 22KHz with EAX simply reverts back to 22KHz when reloading the game. This only happens for EAX and might well be normal behaviour, but I cannot remember.

Thanks for the well written and exstensive reply :) This did the trick!
I had the same problem, turned out that i forgot to turn this option to off actually :P

Alternative Simple Textures : Off

then all the good textures came to live
Is Alchemy working with SOFplus?

I added manually Soldier of Fortune to Alchemy (it wasn't on the list after install). I see in console that some variables are not added.

Additionally I can't permanent chose 44khz sound. After choosing it, quit and load game again, it's back to 22 khz.
