I don't use steam, but as someone who's bought this game, I would love a windowed mode. It's the perfect game to simply leave running and return to later, due to its turnbased nature, and a windowed mode makes that so much more convenient.

On the Mac version, you can right click the Smugglers V icon and select "Show Contents". Double click "Wineskin" and select "Set Screen Options". Change to "Rootless (windowed)" and "Virtual Desktop at 800x600" for the minimum size, or larger if you want trade screen windows etc to be visible off to the side. Then hit Done. Then back out of the contents and double click the game to load it in a properly sized window.

I don't know if this is related but I was unable to get past the save/load point in the tutorial.
