How do you abducts someone? I have tried communicating and just attacking, but I can't seem to solve it. I noticed a skill that indicated boarding a ship when it is below 25% health but I read it was very hard to pull off. Is that the only way to complete the abduction missions?

Hi,

yes, you need to board the ship in order to capture and abduct someone (alive). It´s not that difficult. There is a chapter in the manual about it. If you consider the high rewards of capturing a ship (you can keep or sell it; that is after you have towed it to a safe harbor), it´s worth a bit of risk and trouble.
Thanks nielsbauer! I had searched your manual and I only found the word abduct once: "There are many different kinds of missions ranging from search & destroy missions and transport missions up to abductions and leading a whole fleet into battle." I'll search for the boarding section next.

By the way, I've been playing it today and I'm enjoying your game very much. I picked it up for only $2 here with the St. Paddy's sale, well worth it. I went ahead and bought it a second time from your site to show my support. I never would have known about it if I had not seen it on GOG though, some I'm glad you got it listed!

Thank you!

What I meant about the manual is that there is a chapter about boarding. Abducting is quiet automatic at this time after you´ve boarded the ship.

Have you already tried out Smugglers 5: Invasion?

I haven't picked up invasion yet. I thought I would play through the initial game thoroughly and then buy the expansion so I could see what exactly gets added. I noticed you have a couple of DLC as well, are those specific to Invasion?
What confuses me about abduction is that it's much harder than simply destroying a ship, but for extremely low pay by comparison. If abduction mission ships are nerfed to be pitiful, then I get it. So far, I haven't bothered with an abduction.
They are still easier then taking an ambush mission only to find you need to take down a carrier with a corvette!
