I have no time to play clean. Just too much work to do. But i have the time to see progress and beauty in the game. So:

I think I used Cheat Engine to give myself plenty of food and fuel. Without the support I just couldn't get through the first battles, not to mention everyone starving to death. That was on the Steam version though but I think it should work here too.

Once you don't have to worry too much about surviving (I still had to babysit some battles to level up my characters), you can start enjoying the atmosphere, setting, stories, random events, etc.
