Does this game have a timer in Adventure Mode? The game looks cool, but if I'm going to get a game over screen because "I took too long", I'd rather just stop playing now.

Just finished the game. Even though the game still tracks time, it doesn't have any real effect in adventure mode, so you can play at your leisure.
