Dartpaw86: I'm playing 2, and figured out to press T to turn on subtitles. Except the subtitles vanish halfway before the characters finish their sentences and usually faster than I can read.
Unfortunately this is a limitation of the game engine, the original versions never allow combined speech and subtitles. You can try using the F1, F2 and F3 keys to adjust the subtitle speed, which might help in some scenes.
The only other choice is to switch to speech only or subtitles only, which works much better.
