So I am running the downloaded game on my mac. But how do I save my game progress? Normally there is a menu, but I have hit all the buttons on my keyboard without anything remotely relevant popping up.

Should I run ScummVM myself?

You have to use the postcard (I think) -at the beginning of the first game you're given an item that has the menu in it (if I remember properly)
