Hi.

I tried to play Simcity 4 Deluxe Edition but only allows me to play in the default resolution (800x600). If i change the resolution and restart the game, it minimized at the start and when i click in the application, the game tries to return tu fullscreen but goes to the the desktop again.

Does anyone know any solution?

Thanks and sorry for my english.

Try configuring the game by editing the target field of the game's desktop shortcut.

Add this to the target field
-CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32

It should look something like this:
"C:\<CUSTOM FOLDER>\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CPUCount:1 -f -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32

Replace 1680x1050 with your desired resolution.

If it crashes, switch to software mode. Run the game in 800x600, go to the in-game video settings and check "Software" under Renderer.

EDIT: Adding parameter -d:OpenGL forces the use of OpenGL instead of DirectX which can help with certain graphic drivers.

I highly suggest you this little tool when you want to play Sim CIty 4: http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/28544-sc4-launcher/

It helps you to play with different resolutions, even ones that aren't natively supported by the game. On top of it the settings may help you with regular game crashes. It can force the game to be played on one CPU core to extend the time until the game sometimes crashes from about 30 minutes to 2 hours.

This is all done by applying the command line arguments, like I mentioned above (the target field editing of the game's shortcut). Btw, GOG's version already runs on only one core by default.
The launcher may make it a bit more convenient, but on the other hand you have to run 3rd party software, which I try to avoid whenever possible.

I know. You can even see the command line created by the program. I must admit I mainly use the disk version of Deluxe (have the game here but didn't install it) so I don't know exactly what GOG has changed.
These are the commands I use: -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -f -d:DirectX -Cursors:fullcolor -Intro:off -CPUPriority:high -CPUCount:1

I try this solutions but the problem continues. only works in 800x600 :(

sorry for my delay

Hmm, no ad-hoc idea here, but what is your operating system and which graphic card are you using?

I've made it work by adding a new parameter: -d:OpenGL
Its forces to use OpenGL and the game works :)

Many Thanks for the help
