I would like to buy SimCity 4 Delux, but I in the reviews someone mentions that you need an Origin account to play it. Is that correct? Wouldn't that count as DRM? I would not buy it if that's the case. It sounds odd, though. Can anyone tell me if this is true?

Are you sure your not mixing it up with SimCity 5? SimCity 4 requires no account to play and do not connect to the internet at all and have no online functionaries. It's completely DRM free so you don't need to be connected to the internet or anything to play/install it.

I mean ac actual Origin account for activation. Someone in the reviews writes: >The End User License requires an Origen account.> And I do not want to sign up to EA. Nobody else mentions it, though, so I thought I check first.

Well the installer don't install Origin nor dose it ask for any email or password, so i believe its just the generic modern EULA thing all EA games have on them, (even when its something as silly as a DOSBox game). So you don't have to worry about that.

Right, I remember the old Sims 2 thing that would pop up and ask you to register, but you could always click 'later' and never do it. As long as I don't need to register the game on an Origin account, I am happy. I've stayed away from EA games for a long time now, so I don't know how it works now. Thanks! :)

I know that feel, the day they started forcing annoying things like securom, registrations and Origin with their games i pretty much stopped buying new EA games to.
So I'm really happy they started selling some of their older titles on gog, as you simply just install and play without having to worry about losing CD/activation keys, losing games when a specific server gets discontinued or simply just not being able to play due to you having a unstable internet connection.

But yeah, no EA/Ubisoft/Activision/etc published game on gog require any registrations or such of any kind for all i know, so it should be safe to buy pretty much any game here.

Right, bought it. Thanks for the advice!
Just to be clear, no games here require Origin to work.

There has been repeated fuss when people have read the EULAs, but it appears that EA gave GoG their stock EULA, which has (unfortunately) led to a lot of confusion.
