Ever since I first saw Sim City 2000 for the first time (back when I was 8 or 9 years old) I could never figure out how to play this game properly.

Point is, I could never build a city that would prosper.

Of course, I didn't spend 20 years trying activelly, but still.

Even with the tips I found here and over the internet, somehow I was still failing. This week I finally managed to figure out why and now I have built San Andreas (guess what GTA game I was playing just prior to going into SC2k? :P ), my first succesful city.

I'm quite happy and would like to point out to other noobs out there that what was holding me back was the services. They're quite expensive for a starting town, but I couldn't bring myself to reducing their budgets, thinking it would be bad. As it turns out, only roads have to always be on 100% to be effective all the time.

Also, I didn't realize at first that whenever a powerplant hits 50 years it is automatically re-bought... or explodes if you don't have the proper money to buy it. I lost a Fusion reactor this way (and 3 good years of development until I had cash to replace it with a Microwave one).

Anyway... thanks everybody for the tips. They did help, though in the end, I had to figure out where was my screw up by myself.
