Curious here. I was looking for some snow/winter stuff for #4 and evidently there are a few mods out there but I'm kind of stupid about the subject and I'd like to hear from anyone who might have used any mods for it be they winter or anything else.
Me too. I picked up 4 on sale a few days ago, and I'm interested in the mods available. I know they are voluminous.

I'm hardly an expert on SimCity 4 modding, but I think most people would agree that installing the Network Addon Mod (NAM) is a no-brainer - even if like me you're not so interested in the extra transport options, the traffic simulator is a vast improvement over the vanilla one.

This thread has links to some smaller mods that either fix bugs or add some useful functionality.

Like I say I'm no expert, but there's plenty of info on modding on the Simtropolis and SimCity 4 Devotion forums which I have found very useful.

cool Thanks! Any help with Transport will be much appreciated.
Yeah, thanks for the info. I found Simtropolis but the amount of downloadable mods was a bit overwhelming.

Diagonal streets! PARTY!!!
There are really many, many, MANY plugins for Sim City 4. I recommend you make a backup of your plugin folder so you can "install" them very quickly if you have to reinstall the game or want to give your friends your collection.

If you are interested in snow textures you can download this plugin http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=264

To download the plugin, scroll down the page and click on "Download Schneemod von Pegasus und Swamper77 (6.07 MB)"
The most important plugin in the zip folder is the first one ("Schneetexturen") the rest are some changes like snowy trees for the whole year or the removal of flowers. The plugin "Schneepflug-Mod" changes the textures of some bigger vehicles like army or garbage trucks as far as I see. But if you install the "Schneepflug-Mod" you have to choose wether your traffic is british ("Linksverkehr") or not ("Rechtsverkehr").

You can add them in documents\SimCity4\Pugins (I guess the GoG version creates the same location).
The mod that makes the whole game take place on Mars looks interesting too. What a great idea.

Seriously? XD Of course I might be able to do that just by screwing with the color settings on my monitor.

I don't know why but that was my first thought when I read that comment. :P
