it's been years, any chance there is a sequel in development?

To be honest, it doesn't look very good. Infogrames, the original developer, is long gone and finally the rights for the game were bought by Nordic Games. They're rather publishers, not developers. For a sequel they would have to hire a studio and I don't think they will do this any time soon. It's just not their business strategy atm.

maybe they can find the original devs and start a kickstarter

if crappy indies games get sponsered, then this can EASILY get sponsered

As the matter of fact, I have been in contact with Nordic Games regarding a sequel/remake of Silver.
And this is what they had to say:
"Thanks for reaching out to us!
We indeed want to make a Silver remake happen. Right now nothing is set in stone but be sure at Nordic Games are people that love the game as much as the biggest fans out there."

I don't think it's going to happen right away, but I do have quite high hopes for it actually being a thing eventually.
Fingers crossed for Silver 2 =)
Hope dies last :D
