I'm less than an hour into this game, and I'm using a wired PowerA Xbox controller. The controls work fine for the most part, except for one glaring issue:

Pressing left/right on the dpad toggles between items. The left stick is used for movement, obviously. For some reason though, the left stick also toggles between items at the same time my character moves. So if I want to walk any direction aside from straight forward or backwards, I have to put up with the menu sound effect rapid-firing through my earbuds. The sound is honestly driving me crazy and making the game hell to play. I've scoured the options menu but can't find any way to change this.

If anyone has a solution I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am facing the same issue with Xbox series x controller. left analog stick is moving the player but is also toggling the items although it shouldn't do that. left dpad should toggle the items. Did you find any solution for this?

For anybody else getting this issue: I tried remapping everything to no avail, but alas found a solution. For some weird reason totally killing any steam processes from my PC fixed this, so I have no idea if steam is hijacking the controller or something, but hopefully this helps.

I also have this issue now. It didn't used to happen and is getting really annoying at this point. Anyone who knows a fix, I would love to know it
