Ive been playing for a while now, but after like 20-30 minutes into the game it suddenly crashes and closes on its own. The game runs fine but i can never tell when its gonna crash again and its becoming frustrating. Ive tried the solutions given on the suport page but nothing seems to work. Any help to fix this problem would be appreciated.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the exact same problem.

Yes, I had the same problem. However, when I don't play on Gog Galaxy but I choose to launch the game with the Program Files map on my computer, it doesn't crash.

I hope it works for you also!

That didn't work for me. Do you have the file path you used? I went though the program files but still had the same crash about 20-ish minutes in. Of course, immediately after I managed to clear the hall of monkeys and dogs in Building World with minimal damage taken, so I now have to redo that nonsense.
This is unbelievably frustrating.

Yeah, as of right now, there seems to be no solution. In my game, after 10-15 minutes pass, it will instantaneously crash upon interacting with any object in a room or even a door. Unfortunately, even the red journal for saving the game is susceptible to triggering a crash after enough time passes. However, I can confirm that the game is still beatable, even in the final area of the game, where there is only one save point that you'll have to constantly backtrack to from far away with every inch of progress. Speedrunning and savescumming from point to point isn't exactly the intended way to experience this game for the first time, but it's currently the only option. Running the game as an administrator and launching the game through program files did not work for me, and I can't say there are any good community patches to remedy this issue for now. The best thing you can do if you are encountering this issue, is to report the crashing to GoG. With enough people, perhaps we might be able to get their attention.

The game was just updated yesterday that fixed quite a few bugs.

Same for me. At least the game runs flawlessly until it crashes

Yep, I posted that on the day of the patch. Unfortunately, the 10-15 minute crashing is still present in this port. When I contacted GoG support, they essentially told me to update my graphics drivers and set the display resolution to 1920x1080 or 1024x768 and see if that works. I've tried all this so far, but no luck on my end. Perhaps this'll work for you guys?

Just checked the event viewer and it says "faulty module name: d3d8.dll" in case someone knows what that means
So...I was running this game live at Dragon Con for a speedrunning showcase and guess what happened to me about 20 mins into the run? This does not happen on my desktop PC but it happened on a laptop I installed it on for the event. I tried running it as an admin and not as an admin. I tried launching it outside of GOG. Nothing. It crashed multiple times and was very embarrassing. I also have a weird issue where some of the overly-rendered cutscenes are a red and green hue with distorted audio. I've tried doing a reinstall/repair with no success. I ran it on 1920x1080 resolution and my GPU drivers are up to date.

i've came back to this, for another playthrough Enigma ( last time i played this was last year on windows 10 )

and now i'm on W11 i'm having all the issue you are including the FMV colors being broken...

you would think as this is badged as part of the preservation program you would keep it updated / making sure it works regularly but doesn't seem like GOG are.

Their preservation program badges are just a marketing tactic, they don't actually mean anything about the stability or playability of the games.

This hits harder because I never, ever had any of these issues in the previous retail version of SH4. This new update they did in April that fixed all the hauntings added so many new issues I've never seen before. The audio is still all messed up and bugged out. And now apparently the game has crashing/FMV distortion issues. This is extremely disappointing from to see from GOG.
