I see this is posted before and as others running Directx 12 so unable to update to DirectX 9. Is there a fix to this, ive contacted GOG for remedy or refund and they havent replied after 3 weeks (virus excuses)

You install DX9 alongside DX12 and the problem is solved.

Adding "Fullscreen = 0" to the config works, but well yeah than it's in window mode, not an optimal solution.
A link to the game's support pages at GOG: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/213530669-Sid-Meier-s-Pirates-?product=gog
well the problem with this "solutions" on the support page is that they do not work for everyone.
maybe it has to do with my widescreen

Maybe do an Xdiagnostics and look through that for problems. If you cannot understand any of it, support should be able to help if you ask them.
I finally solved it (solutions of support did not work), followed a steam forum post.
I removed the config file and it works now, something in the old one seems to work on Win7 but not on Win10
Any help on HOW to install DirectX 9? The odd part is this works on my work computer (Windows 10) but not on my old laptop I upgraded to Windows 10.
