A friend and I are unable to play SMAX multiplayer using Hamachi for a TCP/IP DirectPlay. I am able to see his game being hosted, but I'm not able to join, and he is not able to see my game being hosted. We both have forwarded ports 2300-2400 and 47624, and we both made an exception for the game (both SMAC and SMAX) in our firewalls.

I've read about 10 threads and troubleshooting guides but nothing has worked. Any ideas?

just tried it, got an error "dperr_unavailable" saying that I needed a proper installation of DirectX 5 or later. Any ideas?

Isn't IPX no longer supported?

I read somewhere that Hamachi only works with IPX connections in SMAC.

problem solved using IPX wrapper
