Hi,

I've longed since owned a physical copy of Alpha Centauri and I can say it's one of my favourite games. Recently, however, I purchased the game on GOG and it is my first time playing the expansion. The manual says I can't play with only one alien faction, but I've tried playing it with one alien faction and I've encountered no problems thus far. Is this a mistake in the manual or can I not finish the game if I play with only one Progenitor race?

The manual is wrong and you should be able to complete your game. See the following link

for more information how this works.
Thanks for the info! I guess if they wanted to restrict us from using only one alien race when manually selected, they would have made the game to prevent us from starting the game that way. Do the developers still make patches for the game?

The last official patch was issued, IIRC, in 2001.

No, but Reynolds was involved in Farmville.
