Is there a way to make animations go slower? It really bothers me that it's all in super fast-motion!

You've accidently selected "fast battle resolution" under MENU>GAME>Advanced Preferences

Things tend to speed up if you hold Shift and certain other keys. Not in combination, but...

In addition to what BlaneckW mentioned, there are a number of other animation display choices as well, under various Menu>Game>... options. Fast unit move, fast computer player move, etc. You might want to check out these settings and insure that you have any which speed up these animations turned OFF.

I'm having the same issues of AI turns happening so fast I cannot follow. I have to manually scan the whole map each turn to see which of my bases are approached by enemy troops.

I checked the game preferences and all options for fast enemy/ally movement are duly unchecked.

Do you have an Athlon CPU? Other players running the game on an Athlon have reported the same problem. I'm not aware of a fix.
