Hi.

I've noticed that when I play Alpha Centauri on my macbook pro (latest gen), the bottom of the laptop gets really hot, to the point that it gets uncomfortable having it on my lap. The battery also drains quite fast with that game.

IS this a known issue, like poor optimisation or wineskin bug? Any procedure to make it heat up less ?

Thanks.
I think you should be asking the mac people.
Sorry I'm replying to you so long after you asked the question, but your overheating is likely because your CPU is running with all cores, when it only needs one.

To fix this (also works with any other older games running in a Wineskin wrapper) is to right click the Alpha Centauri app, click "Show Package Contents," run "Wineskin," click "Advanced" and check "Limit to 1 CPU core."

It may also help to update your wrapper and engine.

To do that, download the latest version of "Wineskin Winery" from their website, run it, add the latest engine available, then return to the "Wineskin" app inside your Alpha Centauri app, click "Tools," then "Update Wrapper," then finally "Change Wrapper" and select the brand new engine you just installed in Wineskin Winery.

It's all very simple, but if you're still trying to get any of these Wineskin wrappers from GOG to work and you need more help, just ask me.
