What do you mean by this?
It would be interesting, i never played GoTM but im ready to play one. But i have question - what about people that have installed both SMAC and SMACX, i checked that its still possible to run basic version of the game, but i dont know what changes have been made... (or what with the people with fan made patches) And what about rules ? - no loading game after losing unit (we have no way to check that - i think).

Game Of The Month - competition, one person is posting map/save game file and the rest is trying to complete that game and achieve the best score (winning the game or who will faster eliminate 2 enemies, or who will achieve certain tech first etc. etc.).

as Thomes8 said, the Game of the Month (GotM) is a single-player competition, based on a new scenario, where you try to obtain the best score or achieve certain objectives in the most effective way.
what makes the Alpha Centauri GotM different from the others is the scenario itself which is featuring often custom factions, graphics and also fanfiction.

you can take a look at this link to see what i'm talking about: http://www.weplayciv.com/forums/showthread.php?3009-April-2010-Game-of-the-Month-quot-Jihad-quot

i'm thinking of gifting some gog.com downloads to the winner and to the best AAR writer as an incentive. what do you think? can this draw a fair share of attention to the GotM?

no changes. it is still possible to run basic version of the game.

the unofficial patch (the one made by scient) is allowed as it doesn't make any changes to the gameplay.
smac444 (made by kyrub) is a work-in-progress as far as i know so it shouldn't be used.

loading is allowed. you can even make multiple submissions if you find the motivation to play it again. :o)
