Whenever I start a new game, all of the settings like "Pause at end of turn" or "Single click in diplomacy menus" are reset. I basically have to set up the whole game the way I want it every time I start up a new game. There has to be a way to prevent this, right? What am I missing here?

Hmm weird bug. Do you have it installed in Program Files folder? If yes, uninstall it and install it again outside that folder (for example C:\Games\Alpha Centauri).

Also, game settings are saved in "Alpha Centauri.ini". Check if it is write protected. Maybe you could try editing it to change the settings without having the game running, although I'm not sure if this works for you.

Hey, thanks for the reply. The game isn't on the same hard drive as the OS, so there's no write protection issue.

I actually took a look at the ini file you mentioned, and experimented with it for a while. It seems that the changed settings are properly saved in the ini file, but as soon I leave a game and start a new one, the game reverts all changes in that file to the default settings.

I also noticed that when I save and load a game, the changed settings are still there, so the game settings seem to be tied to the save file.

Hmmmm, well, maybe the game is required to be installed in the HDD where the OS resides, although i'm not sure about that as i've never installed a game in a second HDD in my system. Maybe you could try that and see if it works, unless you want all you games to be installed in a separate HDD (in case of a SSD).

It was worth a try, but unfortunately, installing the game to a different hard drive didn't change anything. The game still resets all settings to the default whenever I start a new game.

Do you run the game as administrator? If not, check it out.
Maybe you could try an unofficial patch (links here) although i can't see how this could fix the game. Also, i haven't tried any unofficial patches so far so i can't recommend which one to install.

I can't think of something else, maybe it's time to contact support. ;)
