hi

every time i try and play this game it comes up just fine but the color are all black and white and i don't know the cause of it. can any one help?

Could you provide some more information? Are you running Windows or Mac? Which version are you running? Intel, AMD/ATI, or Nvidia graphics? Are you using any unofficial patches?

Without much to go on, it may be a driver issue or an incompatibility with the OS version you are using.

It seems that there is a fix for that. Follow the directions there. The directdraw=0 option also allows SMAC to use the native resolution of the display, as referenced by the sticky thread.

The information in the linked post was outdated (I corrected it). At some point, GOG began installing the game in a different folder. Your Alpha Centauri,ini file probably is located in

C:\GOG Games\Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

Also, be sure to place the commands in the correct section of the ini file. It should look something like this:

[Alpha Centauri]
directdraw=0
DisableOpeningMovie=1
