I agree with you there. fake stuff like this is why I tend to trend away from reading reviews and going for watching let's plays or TB's WTF is series instead. Let's me see the game in action in a coherent manner with some commentary as to how the systems work rather than having to guesstimate which reviews are legitimate and which aren't.

Look at sites like Metacritic and you'll often see loads of "PERFECT!!!!" reviews as well as "UTTER SHITE" reviews. Now why would I want to go around trying to filter the fakes out of any tally and hope the rest of the reviews might be actually helpful?

Very much in context with me reading an article on Blistered Thumbs about someone spotting EA using fake accounts to generate positive comments on social networks. It really cheapens any regard any right-thinking person will have to feedback left in this fashion.

I generally like Arcen's games. Got all of them except an expansion of AI war since I seem to lose track of what I'm doing in that game too quickly. That said I'm not entirely sold on this game and the few videos I've managed to find really don't go into much depth on how the game is put together. What is the puzzle aspect of it? Most of what I've seen it's more action. I think I'll hold off till some more information surfaces on the game.

And as for the fake reviews. Maybe Gog could institute the same reviewing system GamersGate uses. You cannot post a game or rate it if you don't own it. This is tricky since Gog also has plenty of older games, but it should be rather easy to separate games into 2 categories. Classics and newer games. The newer games, especially those with a launch on Gog would require the person making the review to have actually bought the game and also give it a grace period of say 12 hours at least since it's rather hard to buy a game AND post an actual review of it (Note re-view, not pre-view or first impressions)

Really though I don't base my decision to buy on the reviews, I tend to visit the forum.

I'm even more annoyed by the 'counterstrike' review that rates the game as 1... vote 'no' and report if you think it's spam!! Imagine how the developers would feel.. someone worked hard to develop it.

Well put. I can understand why someone would want to vote 1 star just because they're miffed at completely useless 5 star reviews. But in the end it's just creating more work for the moderators to clean up if they get around to make a cleanup pass there.

I reported the useless reviews as spam. Those reviews are nothing more than an insult to GOG, the developers, and the members on the GOG.com users who expect sincere reviews of games. There should be some serious consequences for members that vandalize the site like this.
