Does this game use time-challenges, like "survive for 3 minutes" or "complete level under 6 minutes", or similar, time-based gameplay?

Nope, none of that.
There are a few cases where once you complete a level, you only have a short amount of time in which you need to leave, but, the puzzles aren't time based.
