I'm on one side of a statue, with an enemy on the other side. I have 1 AP.

I can move to the left of the statue, and receive cover from all enemies other than the one on the other side of the statue. Or I can move to the right of the statue and receive no cover.

I can move and attack with my 1 AP by clicking on the enemy on the opposite side of the statue. However, doing so causes my character to move to the right of the pillar, putting me in full view of everyone, and forfeiting all cover.

Or I can click to move to the left of the statue, but doing so causes me to expend my 1 AP without attacking.

How do I select where I move when I move and attack as part of the same action?

Only Melee characters can move and attack in the same action in Shadowrun Returns & Dragonfall. Shooting always takes its own action point, separate from moving.

Any move and attack in the same action is a 'melee charge'. The game picks its path of least resistance. Being picky about how you get there and where you wind up takes a little longer. If you care about where you stop before starting your attack, eat the AP cost and move manually then attack, like shooters do.
