I did play through the HK and for me it was inferior to Dragonfall in every way. Plot makes no sense, combat is really easy and the game is really short etc.

So how is the new content? How much is the gameplay improved? If one was dissapointed in the original, would he find satisfaction in the extension?
I can't comment about much... but I already found one thing I disliked and one that made me chuckle in the first few minutes of playing.
My hard ass, high body, cybered out the wazoo, melee death dealing claw machine of a runner doesn't have an option to tell the guy that interrogates you right off the back to shove off? Just some minor complaints and then no choice but to answer his questions? I realize the plot has to move, but I could have had more options to try and tough out the interrogator.

So yeah, right off the bat you get a hole in the writing of sorts. I didn't see anything new in the first little bit of combat you get either.

Take this all with a grain of salt. I had enough time to play maybe 20 minutes tops before I had to step away.
Maybe in a day or two someone will have had time to finish it and give you a more thorough answer.

(Oh, and the part that made me chuckle? Haunted noodle machine shows up)
There's 5 new runs, including the intro mission. I thought they were well done, and one actually had a moderately challenging combat encounter (if you pick a certain option).

But it really is more of the same. If you didn't like it before, the Extended Edition isn't going to change your mind.
Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll pass for now and fire up the Dragonfall instead.

I got excited when I read the change log which said "revamped matrix art and gameplay" - so I started the HK campaign again from the beginning to see what had changed.

Only done the first few missions so far, but didn't notice any difference in either art or more importantly gameplay. The matrix gameplay still sucks ass in exactly the same way it did before - which I was so hoping would be fixed.

I was confused by the change log too. I realized after a while that those change log items are just referring to the features of the game when it was initially released.

I don't think any content was added to the original campaign, everything new is in the bonus campaign.
Well how about the companions? Any new bantering or even a whole new member?

I think the team was really the strongpoint of HK, almost on par with Dragonfall. Wu was terrible but I really liked shaman, rigger and samurai. Would be cool if there was some added dialogue and interaction with them.

Yup there's new banter, the dialog also takes into account your actions in the original campaign. You don't get a new companion, but you do have someone tag along quite a bit in the latter half of the campaign. There's also a ton of new minor characters to chat with through-out.

I thought the new runs, story and dialog were excellent, I was just hoping they'd refine the gameplay a little more as well, The matrix still sucks, and it's still way too easy on hard. The majority of the campaign and the final fight was so easy that I was really disappointed.

There is a dev audio commentary you can enable for the original module. Some of it is interesting, gives you an insight into some of the process for developing the game and a few little stories.

Probably worth enabling once and checking out.
Just finish the expansion, I thought that the story is better and the combat itself sometimes is more challenging than the original. All in all I enjoyed playing it more than the original game itself.

I finished it around the same time and have the same thoughts.

Plus there appear to be a few different routes to go with, so there should be some replay value.

At the end of the original campaign I had felt that your character was still very much trapped and didn't have a real resolution. But with this campaign you do get a chance to get out from under Kindly's thumb.

Also the battles are epic. I was definitely sweating a bit in a few of them, and felt more like DF's missions.
If you liked the campaign then you won't want to miss the extended bonus campaign. The first mission I played (the sealab side mission) is better than most of the main campaign missions.

Granted, the bonus campaign starts off very poorly (wtf I banished a demigod but I can't avoid a simple police ambush, bust my way out of a pair of handcuffs, force open a door, or even avoid answering questions from an interrogator?), but at least it gets better.

All in all it doesnt sound too bad. Maybe I'll give it a spin after I'm done with The White March.
I had a blast with it!
Not on par with Dragonfall but I don't expect to see a game topple that one anytime soon.
Missions where pretty well done and as always talking with the crew and others where what I looked forward to after each mission. While fending of a God isn't a bad ending it left quite some lose ends that this extra scenario deal with quite neatly, from the two endings I have seen anyhow.

Oh yeah getting my hands on a 30mm cannon didn't make combat any harder but it sure was fun!
I had a lot more fun with both the original HK campaign AND the bonus campaign, than I did with Dragonfall. For me Dragonfall was too generic. HK had more flavour.
