I had a couple drinks for the first time in a loooooong time... the thread title should be "Bug exiting Earwig (OTK Mission.) Yeesh.
Hey folks, so I've been playing through Dragonfall Director's Cut, and I"ve encountered a bug while trying to exit the OTK mission. I am able to exit the area with three members of my party, but no matter what I do, the last party member ends up unable to exit, as the space where the exit is goes black and the exit becomes inaccessible to the final party member. I've attached a picture of what happens to the exit area from the final party member's point of view.

I will add that I checked the Steam forums and that it was mentioned that the player character should exit first while another character keeps line of sight of the exit, and that apparently if the player character exits first, this will effectively allow you a workaround of sorts for the bug. Problem is, this isn't true for me. No matter what I've tried, the last party member can't exit the mission.

Is my best option to find a way to cause the final party member to die and just sacrifice them to end the mission? I'd prefer to avoid this, and am about to try a second run through of the entire mission from the start while avoiding any saves (manual or quick) through the whole mission to see if that helps, but having tried that once already, I'm beginning to think more may be necessary to get past this one.

Has anyone else run into this particular bug? I'd appreciate any input. :)

I'd try the death approach - there's no penalty in plot or gameplay, or any consequences whatsoever, for having party members die during a mission.

Another approach - which would require replaying the mission, and which might not be possible with your chosen character build and/or team members - is to do the mission the stealthy way. If you never initiate combat, you won't get the bug.

Thanks for the reply! Had a pretty busy weekend, but will give this a shot very soon! Not sure why, but I had just assumed there was some sort of penalty for death. Looks like the easiest way to get past this after all. Thanks again!

I've run into the same bug. I took the sneaky route (charisma, decking) but of course it goes into combat mode for the escape even if no one's shooting at you. I used Blitz's drone as a workaround:

- Position everyone around the exit so they can all leave on the same turn.
- Pilot Blitz's drone.
- End turn.
- Player exits first (just to make sure).
- Rest of party exits while drone maintains line of sight on the exit.

It works and no one has to die.

It looks like today's update may address this bug, but this is an excellent workaround if it's still an issue after patching. :)
i've run into this once. running the stuck character back to the computer room then back out worked for me. no idea why.

It should - I've got that update already and I didn't encounter the bug and I had to leave in combat mode. But since I never experienced the bug prior to the update either, it could be random so who knows?

fictrix - you got into combat mode just for the escape? If you have security skill + good decker and you disable the program via the matrix, you should be able to leave without entering combat mode at all. At least that's the way it worked a few updates ago.

I posted that before realizing the update wasn't ready yet for Windows players. However, I was able to get through the section just now. I backed up to before starting the mission, played through it without saving, and was able to exit using Blitz's drone for line of sight. I thought I was going to have to resort to letting the last member get killed, but after moving the drone to a couple different spots, I found a place that worked and exited just fine. Thanks to everyone for all the help!

edit: ha! And right after doing this, the Windows patch hits. Hehe :)
