Just wondering if gibbing enemies with explosives (or the nuke!) results with less drops than sword/bullets.

I did find that running them over with a vehicle leaves no drops at all - but that's probably because running over existing drops makes them disappear - weird.

That only matter in case of Rippers and Guardians -you need most likely gib them to pieces to get Guardians Head and Rippers Hearts. As for ammo - it's obvious and realistic that if you crush them and destroy them in explosion their stuff most likely is destroyed too but not always.

Also is good to gib Coolies so they won't pursue you after death because he has no body to disjoint from.

Thanks for the info! Ripper Heads are fun :)

For Coolies, if there are no other enemies around, I just run up to the body and start slashing with the sword - kills them before they can do anything.

Don't know if you noticed but in fact attacking a fresh coolie corpse may keep a ghost from spawning altogether (it may require some precise aiming, though). Sometimes the body's head will disappear without initiating the ghost's spawning sequence (and without raising the enemy count by 1). It's not quite as enjoyable as gibbing a ghost before it has a chance to start floating around, though. :B

I always thought this was a feature but in retrospect this may be some weird behaviour of the engine.

I think it's as simple as the coolies only spawning ghosts a certain percentage of the time. Something to keep you on your toes :)

Oh please no... this would mean that I've been wrong about one of my favourite games for 15 years. D:

I noticed that ghosts sometimes won't spawn even without slashing the corpse with the sword but I thought that this only happens due to overkill damage, sometimes caused by nearby explosions and stuff. And I was under the impression that slicing the corpse always works if done right, the cases where it fails being caused by bad aiming. I REALLY need to take another look. o_o

Slicing the corpse doesn't keep the ghost from spawning, but it does kill it as soon as it spawns - you can hear the killing slice, and sometimes see the blood splatters and/or hear Lo Wang make a comment.

Yeah, that I know. You can actually see part of his spawning animation before you gib him. As I said, I was only referring to what you can do before that happens. If you're right then nothing (well, except gibbing the coolie corpse with an explosive weapon, I guess).
