Greetings all! I've recently played duke nukem 3d for the first time (world tour edition) and completed it on "come get some" difficulty. I really liked the game so I bought blood and shadow warrior redux on GOG.

What difficulty would you suggest playing on? I've just completed the first level on "who wants wang" and it seems a lot harder than duke 3d. Does it get a bit more manageable when you unlock more of your arsenal or learn enemy patterns? It seems I need to play a lot more slowly and careful than with duke 3d.

Would you recommend lowering the difficulty or sticking with it?

I'd say stick with it. I played on exactly the same difficulty levels as you and did too find Shadow Warrior more difficult on the first level, but soon you get the hang of it, plus you discover better weapons/items.
The first level of Duke3D was a walk in the park, but Shadow Warrior and Blood can catch you unprepared from the very beginning.

(Note that I played the original Duke3D and Shadow Warrior, not World Tour/Redux versions).

Thanks for the answers. Seems like I want wang.

If you like Shadow Warrior, consider getting Blood, also in Build Engine. There is also Redneck Rampage that I'm yet to play.
Blood definitely ramps up the difficulty from the get-go, if you like a challenge.
