Does anyone know what the maximum possible scores are for the three games? I'd like to know what to go for.

There seems to be a mission on Dr. No Body that's impossible to finish with perfect health for instance, making you go through two missile launchers where one of them is bound to hit you. You have to pass by them twice, providing the challenge you can't get hit by anything else.

As a perfectionist I'd just like to know what score entails the perfect run, only getting hurt where you can't avoid it and getting the SPY letters in the right order on every mission.
I was wondering the same thing and have been searching the web but find nothing!

Below is a post I am working on to send to the creator of a FAQ for this game. Happy item hunting folks! Post your high scores!

###############################################################################
Thought I would add some *competition* to the game to give everyone something to strive for. I have attempted
to complete each level collecting every item, destroying every enemy (if possible), and collecting each S*P*Y in order.

Also, every score posted includes the "Perfect Finish" bonus for completing the level without losing a life.

Electro Bolt Robots are invincible? Some ceiling robots are not reachable? Some levels drop Money Bags! Flying Mines no points for destroying!

The levels were completed in the order listed in a walkthrough posted on GameFaqs.com by DEngel called "*Secret Agent FAQ Version 1.00* by *DEngel*". Note DEngel skipped a level number in Ep.1 but the order is otherwise the same.

Maps now attached below for level order I used. (Thanks cpc464!)

Episode 2 seems a lot harder. Some levels do not contain S*P*Y? One level seems to be impossible to complete perfectly?

Score in (brackets) is a running total for the episode.

Secret Agent: Episode 1

Hmm somewhat difficult to tell which level to go first with an FAQ but I seriously contest that ordering. What you really want to do is get the double shot as soon as possible instead of going for the level you see first since the game isn't linear.

Anyway I'm not so sure about episode 3 because I've never actually played it for some reason and I also haven't tried for a perfect score in episode 2 either.

Last time I played episode 1 I got a score of 1,082,850 what I found was that it was not possible to get SPY on the shoes level because you cant jump over the Y so you only get 100 instead of 10K

I think this occurs in episode 2 as well somewhere from memory.
cpc64: I did manage to get the SPY on the level you mention but it took many tries. I found the P harder to jump over. It required a jump, pause, move manouevre that I kept messing up.

Also hadn't considered the Double Shot option, valid point. I just followed the FAQ order as I didn't even know about the Double Shot and was trying to tie my scores into some kind of order so people could know which level was which.

What bothers me more was that if you hit that 10k for the SPY you say you missed, you would have 100 more points than me! Where you get that 100?! :)

So I had a look and definitely the Y was much easier for me to jump over whereas with the P I would hit the ledge and end up falling on the P. I haven't tried the jump pause manoeuvre though.

I've played episode 1 a LOT I'm sure I would of completed it a dozen times on the 486. The game is fully possible without double shot its just better with it. Interesting looking at the BOND cheat so I could get to the shoe level quickly it seems that they have a really strange ordering with level 16 being the island level which is possibly the hardest level in the game and level 6 is the level with lots of Ys which is also a hard level, and the last level is level 12 (basically the easiest level along with one of the outside levels on the right side of the map)

Nah I'm pretty sure we would have equal scores if I hadn't missed it. because I got 100 for the Y instead of 10K
1,092,750 - 10,000 + 100 = 1,082,750 + 100 = 1,082,850
cpc464:

Re: "1,092,750 - 10,000 + 100 = 1,082,750 + 100 = 1,082,850"
Yes, I see that now. Thanks.
(Lot of restarting of levels for me to try for 'perfect'!)

That sounds like 2 votes for "1, 092, 750" as high score for Episode 1!

Working on Episode 2 now. 12 of 16 finished but I find Ep.2 a lot harder to get perfect... :)
Edited post above with scores now posted for Episode 2.

As cpc464 mentioned, I also found one level where S*P*Y seems impossible to get.

Anyone else getting same or better scores?!

Good luck and have fun "SPYing"!
So I just started going through episode 2, fixed the 486 under my desk so I felt like playing.

I thought I'd just attach a labeled screenshot for clarity for which level is which, oh and im counting bullets cause I can although it's not perfect because sometimes I miss and I can't help myself and I have to kill the mines.

oh no you look to already be beating me! (I've only played sam2 to completion once before, so that my excuse)

level 1: 08 bullets, score: 036900 -> total: 036900
level 2: 14 bullets, score: 066400 -> total: 103300 (doubleshot)
level 3: 15 bullets, score: 054000 -> total: 157300
level 4: 30 bullets, score: 078850 -> total: 236150 (5 moneybag drops)
level 5: 45 bullets, score: 048850 -> total: 285000

Just downloaded some new games and thought I would check the forum.

Glad to see someone else is keeping up on Secret Agent :)

Never thought to count bullets, that would be the "Ultimate" Secret Agent with maximum score and minimum bullets!

I am finished 7 levels in episode 3 so far but have taken a pause as the game has started to control my dreams. Hahah.

cpc464: I did not know you could attach pictures. I will try and attach maps to my main post above. Thanks for the added tip :)

Haha yeah you could have the ultimate secret agent but killing my self for losing a life and can cope with but killing myself for wasting some bullets might be a bit much. I guess it depends how many times are you willing to play a level.

Could also include time but would have to record the footage as well I suspect and it is somewhat prone to luck and whether you have to wait for a particular enemy to move or not but it would be interesting to see who can play a level absolutely perfectly.

Level 14 Score: 61, 200 (872, 250) (1 x Money Bag drop, as jump up to left end of Money Bag shelf at bottom of level.) (Could net get S*P*Y in order, nor even get S without getting hurt! - so ashamed - If you did you can add on 10K.)
Yep, I'm having this problem here. Unless there's a way to glitch through the flame, AND glitch the barrel through the P, I can't get it here and get perfect either.

I surmise they forgot to put an invisible platform somewhere one block above the moving fire, and also failed to move the P into the right place.

I was just now able to get 64200 points on episode 1 level 5 (this includes 25000 from perfect finish). Does your number include perfect finishes?
re: 64200 points on episode 1 level 5

Greetings, QuintSakugarne.

I haven't been playing this one in a while and just decided to check the forum to see if there was anything new. Glad someone is still playing! I need to get back at it and try and finish Ep. 3!

All the scores I had posted do indeed include "Perfect Finish". I had to keep trying over and over to get it before moving on to the next level. Hence the reason I stopped on Ep.3 L.7 at which point my dreams were all "robot shooting, SPY collecting", etc. Ha.

Nice score on yours btw. And darn it. Now I need to go try it again and try and figure out how you did it!

I'm going to update my main post above with your score for those who come to this thread later...

I'm in the middle of a Redneck Rampage binge now. Will try and finish Secret Agent after I get tired of RR and finish out my scores post. It's nice to have something to aim for!

Happy gaming and keep posting any higher scores you get!
I haven't really been keeping track of my scores for this game, sorry...but then again it's pretty easy to get back to any particular stage just to check score for it. (In most cases, at least. Stage 2 or so of the first island in episode 2 is a PAIN -- though probably less if I don't care about score.)

I think I found another level that's impossible to perfect, though, in episode 3. It's at the northern tip of a peninsula, probably the third one or so (the next one after the first two) to the left of the first two. The game seems to force me to get the P during my jump to get to the red key, and I need the red key to get the S.

I don't know why they made those levels that way...
| I think I found another level that's impossible to perfect

There seem to be a number of levels that make it impossible to get the S*P*Y sequence or the money bags that get dropped. Not sure why they designed it that way either unless it was on purpose to mess with the players... which wouldn't surprise me.

Still good fun. I love all the old Apogee games. I have very fond memories of the shareware concept back in my early PC gaming days.
