I've seen mods requently reccomended on here but it seems like there are a lot of changes to make the game even more difficult (if I'm not mistaken). IAre these mods mandatory to fix bugs and make the game playable or can I have a good experience without ithem?

You probably found out by now but in case you did not: You can pick what you want to have changed.

Be aware that mods for the Sea Dogs series are not magic pills. They will still be an unintuitive, crash happy, broken mess with a terrible UI which requires some time to like them (and that they do not have any serious competition in the same scope of age of sail open world RPG simulation probably helps too ;) ).

Aside from Blood & Gold; but thats different kind of messy and demands equal amount of getting used to time to like it.

edit: The above screen was from CoAS with the Gentlemen of Fortune mod.

There are I think 3 options, not sure if all 3 are still viable, I've only tried 2.

The first is the Gentleman of Fortune mod. I tried this, it's pretty good.

I'm currently running the Combined modpack 1.7, which is a super quick bugfix with no new content.

Finally, there's the full Combined mod 3.2, which makes loads of changes and improves textures etc. This has more in common with the GoF mod than the above combined modpack.

Hey i tried installing combined modpack 1.7 it did install but the game still says it's coas 1.30 or something.
Do i need to do anything more then just install it?
Also started as Diego adventurer what i am supposed to do at the Bermuda, can i even leave on sea since it's all closed down with rocks when i wanted to leave Bermuda.
Edit: found out that i can just sail to the closest place to exit the bermuda stone walls.

Also found some link about 1.7 that also should fix the weather and camera

If it was already implemented in the game from combined modpack 1.7 that i found on moddb i don't know, but here at least a thread about it that says that moddb didn't have it:
