I'm not super computer savvy, can you install the gentleman of fortune mod in this version on GOG, and if so what are the steps to take. Thanks.

Yes you can and this is how i did it:

Went to the Pirates Ahoy Discussion Board
http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/gentlemen-of-fortune-2-0.19345/

Download the full release 2.0
http://piratesahoy.bowengames.com/COAS/GOF 2/GOF 2.0 Full Release.exe

Download the Patch V1.3
http://piratesahoy.bowengames.com/COAS/GOF 2/GOF 2.0 Full Mod Patch 1.3.7z

Installed them in the order downloaded.

The *.exe unpacks itself in a location you can specify. It can be the game folder or any folder you want.
If you dont unpack it to your game folder, make sure after unpacking, that you copy paste the mod files manually over the existing ones in your game folder.

In my case it is:
B:\Games\GalaxyClient\Games\Sea Dogs - City of Abandoned Ships

It will prompt the question if you want to overwrite existing files, which you affirm.

You do the same with the patch V1.3 after you unpack the file with e.g. 7zip.

And thats all for the GMOF Mod.

Hope you enjoy the game.
1. You download Sea Dogs: City of Abandoned Ships on gog.
2. You go to this site and download Gentlemen of Fortune 2.0.
3. While downloading, also download the 2.15 patch on here.
4. When you've download Sea Dogs. City of Abandoned Ships and the 2 mods, click on the GOF 2.0 Full Release.exe which tells you to extract the files, just unzip them at any folder of your choosing. I've choosen to create my own folder.
5. now with this done, click inside the folder and drag-and-drop the files inside your main Sea Dogs: City of Abandoned Ships folder (the one you have when you installed the game, the one with the LANGUAGE, moldules, Program folders in it)
6. Now, click on the COF full 1.3+1.4b+1.5b patch.exe and click on it. It will tell you to choose the directory where Sea Dogs: City of Abandoned Ships is located, which is the same directory you've drag-and-dropped the contents of the GOF 2.0 folder on.
7. When you installed the patch, you're ready to go. The mod is successfully installed when a different into and main menue shows up. If its not, something wrong has happened.
Keep in mind that the versions of Gentlemen of Fortune you are talking about here are no longer supported by the mod team.

Part of that mod team has relocated to a new site BuccaneersReef dot com and have continued with this mod. It is much larger and more expansive than the original. It is huge though with 13GB zipped download and 50GB unpacked.

So you need adequate space. Hundreds of ships(600+), weapons and items - way more than the original GOF mods. Also there are 136 playable characters captains from history.

Keep in mind that this mod is set during the Golden Age so 1648-1725. So if you're expecting to find late flush deck frigates like Surprise or Constitution or play Napoleonic ships like Victory, you will not find them in this mod and should stick to GOF 2.0 from Pirates Ahoy even though its not supported anymore and much less capable with drastically lower content.

I checked personally and it works at 08/03/2017.

If you have problem with the download link on buccaneer reef forum I suggest to reload many times the page, in incognito mode, as suggested in the thread on buccaneer reef forum itself.

The only letdown would be the fact that you will need to download MEGA extension to be able to download anything. MEGA is the host provider where the mod files actually are.
Just to pass on a recent experience regarding the links and info above:

I downloaded the Gentlemen of Fortune full mod and it worked fine on top of CoAS, but I couldn't get it to work with the 1.5b patch (runtime error).

I was also able to successfully download the mod referenced by modernknightone. This is a standalone game and it's free! But, it will make you work to get it. You need to download it from Mega, and that includes registration, downloading a MegaSync app, and waiting a LONG time for download. Then you will need to extract some 7z files.

What you will end up with is Gentlemen of Fortune: Privateers and Profit, The Golden Age 1648-1725, aka ERAS mod #2. I haven't gotten far into gameplay but first impression is that the graphics are beautiful, and research says it's the state of the art for pirate sims. I'm looking forward to sinking a lot of time into it.

FYI, I believe modernknightone is the creator of the ERAS2 mod, and if that's the case I heartily thank you for the massive amount of work you obviously put into the project!

yes i believe that too .. big thanks to modernknightone for ERAS2 mod and all previous work
So... it looks like development on the GoF (Gentlemen of Fortune) mod split after the release of 1.2 - Both of which are being actively developed.

There's now the 2x mod (which pulls out some of v1.1 and goes in a different direction):
piratesahoy(dot)net/threads/gentlemen-of-fortune-2-0.19345

and Eras, which I think may be the continuation of the original GoF (v1.2):
buccaneersreef(dot)com

Will those familiar with both mods chime in? I've read about them and am still unsure which direction to go in.
