Not because of the story or atmosphere or music but rather the gameplay. I can't play games where the focal point is in the centre of the screen without feeling sick. I had the same problem playing Amerzone. Other FPP ganes like Myst or Dark Fall, however, don't seem to bother me. Am I just weird?

Anyway, like Amerzone, I've had to abandon the game without finishing it... :(
I just finished Scratches for the first time and I agree with you. Moving the mouse very slowly--by millimeters--when looking around is how I avoided motion sickness. It takes patience, but you need an abundance of that anyway to finish this game. Many of the puzzles are outrageously illogical and difficult to figure out.
Thanks for the tip, Roslavets. Think I'm going to give it another go, as I'm really attracted to the story. I was hoping I'd spend only about 5 hours max on the game. This is worrying!
I think the game took me about 10 hours. A few non-spoiler tips if you get stuck: keep calling everyone, re-read newspapers, inspect paintings closely, and think like MacGuyver when using items.

The information comes probably too late but in the game's options menu you can actually change the controls which will activate a mode that is specially designed for people suffering from motion sickness - then there's no fluid scrolling but an instant change of angles when you click on the screen's borders instead. That's probably a perfect solution for your problem.

I always thought this goes without saying when playing any point-and-click adventure.

I know your response was directed at the author of this thread, but thankyou :) . I was having the same problem with this game & I couldn't play for more than a few minutes without getting motion sick. I had given up on being able to play this game at all , & now I might actually be able to :)
