Hello,

I'm having a consistent crash when I try to open the door to Doc Martins Office in chapter 3, Max will attempt to open the door but when I click he freezes but the other patients and music is still working. But I won't have control of Max again until I have to force quit the game.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I read about the regedit advice but I'm not very comfortable doing that but will attempt if it solves this type of problem.

Sam
Unfortunately, Sanitarium is a very buggy game, and though I never had any issues, personally, Chapter 3 seems to be one of the worst offenders when it comes to bugs and crashes.

The old RPG motto, "save early, save often" goes for adventure games as well, and this is especially true in Sanitarium's case. You never know when the game is going to crash on you, so you'd better make sure you save really often and as early as you can.

If you're running Windows 7, make sure Sanitarium (and any other game, for that matter) isn't installed under the 'Program Files' folder. In fact, I would highly recommend installing it on something like 'C:\Sanitarium'. Try messing around with compatibility options, trying different ones to see if any one makes your game more stable, never forget to run the game as administrator -- and, if possible, when installing it, run the installer as administrator, as well.

These are all basic and generic recommendations, but if you don't feel safe enough to try the regedit fix, they are things you could try before having to resort to that.

I hope you get to fix and play Sanitarium, since it's one of the best, most unique games ever made.

Hey,

Yea I read old posts after posting mine and it seems other people had the same problem, such shame because it is one of my favorites, I'll attempt installing it as admin just to see if that make any difference.

If not guess I'll spend the day playing Gabriel Knight!
I had the same problem with Chapter 3 and here is how I managed to fix it. If you have a save at the beginning of Chapter 3, load it, and open the door to the doctor's office first before speaking to the other characters or before you do anything else. Here are some additional things other players did to fix that crash.

I'm certain that bug in Chapter 3 is related to what you do first, because I happened to play three times through that chapter and only the second one caused that crash for me, and I noticed that the last thing I did on the second try was to go to the doctor's office, and it did crash when I tried to open the door.
