Resistance156: The Sacrifice Source code was never released, I'm guessing, correct? I was kind of wondering if there were any graphic engine enhancements, or high-res texture packs out for it. All things considered though, for a 9 year old game it still looks great.

The only graphical enhancement was some DirectX improvements made in Patch 3 for the original game. I'm downloading Sacrifice right now, so I don't know if Patch 3 is included, but that's all we've got. =]

Okay, advice, please? I'm considering purchase of Sacrafice.
I've played a handful of RTS games.
I'm currently playing "Original War" and love the fact that I can
pause the game, scroll around, issue orders while paused, and they
will be carried out once I un-pause the game.
To me, this is a no-brainer design feature: EVERY game should be
like this. I'm not a crack-smoking robot, I have HUMAN reaction
time!
Original War even adds in a speed adjustor, so that combat or
gameplay can be slowed down or sped up.....no more feeling like you
are watching paint dry while waiting for something to be built, no more
nausea/panic/frustration/hate feeling when inevitably overwhelmed by
an unrealistic number of AI controlled enemies. Frustration does not
equal fun, in my book. I don't enjoy reloading a scenario eighteen times
to be able to beat it.
I've been reacquainting myself with Empire Earth, too, and am remembering
why I hated it so intensely. The game cheats, and overwhelms you with
insane numbers of units from ALL the enemy cultures, all at once.
So....Sacrafice looks and sounds fantastic......BUT! The Wikipedia review
mentions that you cannot see all of your units, so you cannot properly give
commands in combat. Did they patch that? Because it is an utterly fatal flaw.
Can you at least pause the game, scroll around and give orders?
Can you adjust game speed at least?
Please, God, let someone have patched this game properly.
This sticky is for Sacrifice mods.
Can a moderator please remove off-topic posts (including mine) from this thread? Thanks.

A link would have been useful, jus' saying.

I was wondering the same thing. I wonder id it can be unpacked, sadly I'm not a programmer. The resources are somwhere in there.
I wanted to do a rezup for the interface.

Regarding the link - I can't seem to connect. Is there a port that needs opening?
Hey.
If someone was dreaming about mods to sacrifice. There won't be any. eltiernit0 asked about source code, in past, some people who worked at Shiny, he didn't got a code, and it ended up on not reply from someone or some company. I have asked these days some other people who worked at shiny. No one of them had a source, but they told me it may be at Interplay. Interplay sadly said, that source codes for all older games were not properly backed up and lost in time. It may be on some older harddrives, but possiblity of finding such HDD is nearly 0, then it comes to see if harddrive works or not, and if data on it is not erased and replaced by another data. So getting readable version of source code is pretty much impossible. This is why there won't be any mods, no bug fixes, no new features. Only way is reverse engineering but it's pretty much limited way of modifing anything. About multiplayer, probably there won't be ever need to install patches 1e or 1f, because the owner of private server is not holding it up. Because of very, very small amount of games played recently (and 99% of them were played via TCP/IP) server was used only as IRC. Owner had to pay bills for holding server up, so we decided to not keep it up because there was no sense. Now we are on free IRC channel on quakenet.org server. With clean install of Sacrifice we could reach Gamespy server but Gamespy decided to shutdown their services so now you will get info about login failed etc. As private server is gone, installing patches such as 1e,1f will not change anything much. Patch increased some networking security(that's why there was another window running in a background, named Sac-Pro) and changed our destination to private server when we hit Internet in the game. Now we use IRC channel to communicate and VPN programs like Hamachi, Tunngle, Evolve to play. It doesn't need port forwarding, meanwhile hosting games on both servers needed.

If you want to join IRC the server you may use this "jubii2.dk.quakenet.org" and use "/join #sacrifice" when you get connected. I can't post any links, because if I could I would add direct link to IRC room via browser client.
Cheers
Great game. Many hours enjoyment. But still no bug free widescreen fix?
