Having some knowledge of Japanese, I've been intrigued by the two Chinese characters on the Sacred logo that appears in the loading screen for the first game (upper right corner; elf on the left). I managed to track down the first one: it's considered a non-standard kanji in Japanese, but its meaning in both Japanese and Chinese seems to be (unsurprisingly) "holy" or "sacred". The problem is I can't for the life of me put my finger on the second one. It's rather complex, written in non-standar caligraphy, and I can't possibly zoom enough on it to tell the strokes apart without it becoming a pixelated blur. So, any Chinese or Japanese Sacred fans around that could satisfy my curiosity?

Also, what exactly is that logo? The official logo for China and/or Japan that somehow made it into the loading screen of worldwide releases? Has anyone seen that logo elsewhere? I sure don't remember having seen it on my physical Spanish CD.

First character = holy
Second character = realm/area

Well, that sheds some light into it, thanks. Still wondering how the Chinese logo (if that's what it is) ended up there, but I guess I can live on without that knowledge.

I think i figured out. I have the steam version and the DVD version too.

Those versions also includes that loading screen, but another loading screen added in the settings!

The loading screens you can find in the games files: Sacred Gold/PAK.

There are 5 loading screens there:

loadgame.bmp
loading0.bmp
loading1.bmp
LoadingUW00.bmp
LoadingUW01.bmp

In the settings of the Gog version (Sacred Gold/Settings.cfg) you can find those lines:

GFXLOADING : LOADING0.BMP
GFXSTARTUP : LOADING0.BMP


But the other version (Steam and Retail) have these:

GFXLOADING : LoadingUW01.bmp
GFXSTARTUP : LoadingUW00.bmp


You must only rewrite these 2 lines to get the correct loading screens!
I think those chinese loading screens was only for the eastern regions...
