I'm running Windows 8 and I try to boot the game the game starts at a loading screen and stalls and won't even allow me to close it, forcing me to reset the computer to shut it down. Anybody else suffered this issue, or know how to fix this?

I'm suffering the same problem. I tried to solve the problem with another post describing similar problems with windows vista, but it did not help.
Did you try the compatibility modes? Sometimes it helps. I find many games have problems with Windows 8, so it could be just one of those games.

You could also try playing in a window, see if it fixes it. Either open the settings shortuct, or open the "config.exe" in the game folder. Uncheck the "full screen" option, and see if it works in a window. You could try some of the other settings in the config.eve as well, one of them may help fix it.
Apparently, like Kadlin said you can only play it in windowed mode. Sucks when you're running it on a small 14'' screen laptop like me. Hope they would come round and give it some love been itching for some sacred action ever since there is rumors of Sacred 3
Same issue under Windows 8.1 Pro x64, just won't load. The requirements state it works in Windows 8 but clearly doesn't for people with Windows 8. Just wondering how many games will stop working when 8.1 is widely available?
Same experience for me on Win8 - the game hangs during boot if fullscreen is enabled, using config.exe to switch to windowed mode addresses the issue (insufficiently, because the experience is pretty sad in windowed mode).

Anyone have a patch to enable fullscreen? From my understanding of gfx pipelines, fullscreen/windows should not have these kinds of consequences.
Same problem in the newly released Windows 8.1.

Installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 Pro x64 released on the 17th and Sacred Gold still hangs on the loading screen, mine stalls on Type Manager every time. Also tried the newly released Nvidia 331.58 drivers but same problem.
I had this problem where I had to ctrl, alt, and del. to get to the task manager to end task the game witch had stop responding at the loading screen..

what I had to do was go through the start menu > gog.com > sacred gold > setup

I checked "32 Bit Color Depth"
then I pressed the ok button... then I launched the game and it ran fine.

my system is a win 7.

hope this helps

Your most welcome, I am glad it was able to help.
You could try running it on Windows 98/ME compatibility mode, it worked for me on Win 8.1. If you need help on how to do that, PM me
