I do not know where else to post so thought i would post here. Ive had the steam version for a long while. I do admit i tried to get it gifted here as i hope to see if it runs better but no luck so i went ahead and re downloaded it last night in steam and it still runs like total crap.

I am on windows 7 64 bit and can run it all at max with physics off. But the game runs really bad. At most its at 60 frames but the game will freeze and seem to skip i guess its what its doing. But it has a content freeze and stutter. I got to thylysium and then it got even worse. open a door to a building game would freeze up for a while then stutter then i could move and it just repeat over and over.

it dose this every where. the game is a total lag fest and i cannot figure out why. So im coming here to see if any one knows what i can do to get this game stable.

I have tried tweak after tweak nothing works. Tried compatibility mode did not work. Tried low settings same again. Even tried replacing the mss32.dll to a newer one it aslo did not work. Tried the community patch. Tried cutting the memory in half in options. did the commands -skipopenal -nocpubinding and so on. nothing works and its getting on my nerves as i enjoy these types of games and i cant get this to work :(

my specs are

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
System Manufacturer: MSI
System Model: MS-7917
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz (8 CPUs), ~4.0GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Current Mode: 1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (60Hz)
AMD Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card

from my dxdiag. is there any thing else i can do are is this game one i will never be able to play and enjoy? i do not use the elite textures as ive no need for them

thank you all.

aslo could it just be steam causing it to run poor dose gog version run better?
Not sure if helps, I have a lenovo y510p with vga 755m(lower than your specs), I have too win 7 pro sp1 64b, it work ok at me(have both on steam and gog, but I find gog working best), but I installed legacy physx and directx 9.0c (version jun2010), even if win7 come with dx9...maybe try to install those...

I don't have the money to buy it.

Thats why i made this post to see if there was any way i could make it run proper on steam
Also I find it that the game run more better on my nvida 755m than on my amd hd7950(desktop with same SO and fx3850)...find a friend who will borrow for few hours the gog version, to see if works...

In my opinion, this game has problems working well with AMD cards. There are some things you can check on your system to see if something else is taking resources. I'd recommend running MSConfig and see the list of what is in your startup processes.

A guide to MSConfig is at this web page: http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/
Try turning off AA. AMD cards do not work well with AA unless it's optimized for them.
I really like this game, but have never managed to get it to run smoothly, even when my computer significantly exceeds requirements.
I think there are issue in the game and graphics engines that underly the many reports of poor performance here and elsewhere.
The underlying game mechanics are not well made or optimised imo.

Does anyone know is the GoG version identical to the Steam version?

Does the community patch affect performance?

Thanks

It's the game not your pc i have the same problem with the gog version. That stuttering makes the game unplayable. the community patch fixes only bugs. Read more here http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/91-community-patch/
