I've just installed this game and selected my graphic card (Geforce 8800 GTS ) as primary driver.
But the game runs awful. The mouse movement is so choppy and slow that I can't even quit the game if entering the menu cause the cursor doesn't move much at all.
My rig is a Vista Home Professional, Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800 GTS 768 graphics card and Creative X-fi sound card.
On top of this I've found that the subtitles at times "sticks" so they can be seen behind the other subtitles and subtitles disappearing and/or blink a lot. Also at times the animations look to be "frozen" as nothing happens on screen while the sound keeps going on.
Needless to say I've not really gotten into the game with these problems, so this has only been from the intro and the menu (esc).
I've tried disabling anti-virus (avast) and it didn't make a difference.
Any advice?
Try setting the game's affinity to one core of your CPU and see if that helps..
Tried that, but no change.
Mouse movement still so choppy in the menu that I can't even get it over to load a game.
Also tried changing priority.
Have you tried doing a clean boot i.e. booting with only the *essential* MS services running and anything else not related to graphics and sound disabled? Also, could you be so kind as to post a DXDiag for us? Maybe there's something in there that might help.
Going to try to kill processes and see if that makes any difference.
In the mean time dxdiag.txt
Try updating your sound and graphics drivers. Your sound drivers are over a year old and I know that Nvidia has released new drivers since September of last year.
I solved it.
In your NVIDIA control panel, under 3D settings, and adjust image settings with preview - set it to 'let the 3d program decide' :)
Voila.

Help, please! I am having major trouble with cutscenes that just keep freezing up on me. I also have a problem with the screen randomly going completely dark, and when I move the mouse it appears to "clean" the black off of the screen like a **** windshield washer. It keeps happening over and over again. I have a Geforce Go 7900 GS, but I can't find a control panel for it :-( Really not sure what to do here...OOPS! Found it! [facepalm] Sorry for the false alarm...
Well, dangit :-/ Mine is already set to "let the 3D application decide". Any idea what I should do now?
