Anyone else having this problem? I just spent TWO HOURS (whoops) editing and making my own scenario - putting trees down and everything - only for the whole thing to say "Exception Raised - Access Violation. Location Unknown" when I try to play it, then the game exits to Windows.

Frustrating, yep. Anyone else encountered this, or found a way around it?

Thanks

Had this error with a fanmade RCT 1 map once. However, it worked the second time I tried. Did you already do that?

You might also want to try to start it as an Admin just to keep the UAC out of the equation.
I've tried it four or five times now, but I'll try the Admin option, just to be sure... Thanks!

Well, the Admin option didn't work, worth a go though. Maybe I'll have to put it down as an afternoon wasted :(

Just as an experiment I downloaded a fan-made park, and that launched fine. It was an SV6 rather than an SC6 file, so I renamed my scenario's file as an SV6 file, thinking that it would work that way, only for the message:

"Could not load - file contains invalid data"
Eh????

Hm.. but the output should really be a SC6 file rather than a Save (SV6).

Did you use the "Convert Saved Game to Scenario" option in the main menu? Then you should be able to save it as SC6 in the Scenarios folder, after setting the winning requirements.
Well... Just tried that, and got the same message:

"Unable to load file - file contains invalid data"

What can be so invalid about it??
Phew I'm kinda out of suggestions...

What happens if you open the file from your explorer, not within RCT? It should have an association with RCT, so a double click should suffice, otherwise right click -> open with -> select RCT2.exe

So I have the same issue. Spent a ton of time making my park ready to go and it says it's saved but I can't open it. It shows in the "other parks" tab but I get that same error message "unable to load file... file contains invalid data". I also tried to convert saved game as scenario but there's nothing in any of the folders that come up, even though I can see it when I open the Landscape folder. Can anyone help? Thanks!
Have you tried opening it in OpenRCT2?
