Hello, I was wondering if there could be an English UK/EU translation for RCT1? There are a lot of differences between the UK and US release, and I am looking for UK version but all digital versions seem to be the US release. Not major I guess but would be nice.

Actually, the only major difference here is that the expansion packs had different names. You can switch easily to Metric and Celsius under options.

Wrong. Certain rides/stalls have different names: Whoa Belly (US) vs. Launched Freefall (UK) and Fries Shop (US) vs. Chip Shop (UK), for example. So do parks (Aqua Park (US) vs. White Water Park (UK); certain prebuilt rides within them are differently named). Then there's terminology like coupons (US) vs. vouchers (UK), line (US) vs. queue (UK)...

RCT2, however, had fewer differences between UK and US releases, as the US one had considerable unique names replaced with UK ones.



The reason the US version is used on GoG and Steam is that only the US version of RCT Deluxe had a unique executable that, among other things, prevented trainers and similar modifications for Loopy Landscapes to run. I assume the other languages were merely ported to that a year or two ago.

Yes exactly what plokite_wolf said, I used to have the orignal UK version on disc a long time ago (no expansions) but it got lost. There are much more differences than the expansion name. Like all the things he mentioned, and another thing I noticed is the US version has a lot of unnamed pre-built rides, in the UK version I think all these had names. One example I know is on the Bumbly Beach scenario. The pre-built wood coaster was called "Big Dipper" in the UK version (named after a ride in Blackpool Pleasure Beach), and in the US version it's "Roller Coaster 1"

Looking at the release dates on wiki, it seems they released it in Europe a little later than in the US so that's probably why they got round to naming them

Thanks for confirming that I haven't gone insane. I thought something was majorly wrong when I saw a ride called "scrambled eggs" which is supposed to be called "twister". Now I know it is only minorly wrong, I am just reading everything in American. I won't dispose of my CD copy any time soon. What? And why? Does anyone care what "cheats" might be used for a strictly single player game?

I'm no longer sure whether it was the main change or the side-effect (since trainers may take advantage of exactly positioned coding in an executable, and once that is changed for whatever reason, functionality breaks). After all, the executable may have been altered to read the Deluxe CD. If some copy protection came along (and RCT1's CD check could be bypassed without a single additional file, just what you had on your CD), that's enough to make all those trainers break.

Some fansites saw the developers as anti-fan-content oriented with some of their decisions, but that seems like baseless accusation seeing how RCT2 and RCT3 had more and more customization options.
