Just to let you know that a patch has been committed in Wine so with the upcoming release (1.3.25) you won't need to change ddr to opengl in the registry in order to launch the game properly.
I've got it working in wine on Linux Mint 13 (Cinnamon). However, when I open the save game, or load game windows the graphics palette shits itself. I can still play, but it's hell to look at. I've installed all the d3dx files and all of the vcruns using winetricks, and it hasn't helped.
I'm having trouble getting it to run on Linux Mint 13 (KDE). The installer gives an error at the end, but it seems to install everything, but there's an error on run. So I tried booting into windows to install it, which worked fine. Booting back into linux, the same error message pops up as before. Here's the details on the error:
On the command line, I see this output:
nvfx_state_fb.c:162: nvfx_framebuffer_validate: Assertion `0' failed.
In the windows virtual desktop, a popup shows
Exception Raised - Unspecified
Error Location: Unknown

I've tried wine 1.4 and 1.5 and changing ddr to opengl, and with and without virtual desktop. Any other suggestions I can try?
