Does anyone else have difficulties with the take off sequence?

The description sais that I have to press the fire button on every step and when the beep signal appears I have to pull up. So I press the fire button (space bar in my case) on every step but there is never a beep signal. After some time Rocket Ranger tries to start but falls. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

It is monstrously difficult. Which I guess means it's an accurate port because I sucked at the original, too.

If you get the timing right, the footsteps will sound slightly different and he'll move forward on the screen.

It *can* be done, but I really think luck plays as big a part as timing.

(still glad to have this, and looking forward to their re-done version)
You need not just press the button.

You need press & hold button for a one or two steps , then release & hold it again when hero perform next step .
Then , when you hear "Beeeeap", just press "Up" & here we go .

It's not so hard - just need a little practice .

Didn't know that I have to hold the button. There was no word in the manual. I also bought this game for my Android phone and there you have to do it by tapping every step. There I finally could make a takeoff. YAY!
