with last patch devs do crash their game, at launch
strange, i just finished a 4h run...
Last update caused me some problems as well. I had to troubleshoot it to get it working again. Luckily, I was able to isolate the problem.

For me it was the "Shading" setting. The game would crash constantly with this setting any higher than medium. All other settings on epic, that one medium and it no longer crashes. This game is a bit of a mess, but if it ran before, you can probably get it running again.

Please allow me to join your conversation.
Around yesterday, the system has automatically started an update, and I have no idea why there is an update after being releashed for such a long time. I didn't think too much and got the udpate.

Now, the game is doomed. When I am lancuhing it, before the game could start, it immediately popping up a void dialog window with no msg in it but a title of the windows as "the game has crashed and will close". I have tried to update the VC++ runtime but not working.

My PC is with common spec, 11700k, 32g 3600 memory, 3080 graphic card. I wonder if any body know how to fix this?
Here is something that should be taken into consideration:

On July 19th version 1.0.1.9 was replaced by version 1.0.2.1. Also, a patch from 1.0.2.0 to 1.0.2.1 was released --- even though there was no version 1.0.2.0.

Later, version 1.0.2.1 was removed and replaced with version 1.0.2.0. Also, the 1.0.2.0 to 1.0.2.1 patch was removed and replaced with a patch from 1.0.1.9 to 1.0.2.0 --- with a patch size of 35.6GB (Just a couple GB less than the game itself).

I don't know what's going on, but if anyone is having problems, it may be because he updated to the mysterious version 1.0.2.0, which has now been memory holed.

I am downloading the game version 1.0.2.1 so...I don't know what you are talking about.

Yes, it looks like after removing 1.0.2.1 and replacing it with 1.0.2.0, they added it back again on 7-22-25.

Of course I never had a "blue dot" appear to indicate the change. And I also don't know if the 1.0.2.1 that I downloaded on 7-19-25 is the same as the 1.0.2.1 that is available for download now.

You can look at the changelog, which verifies what I originally said:

No reason, I will take your word for it.

Besides I am going back to the previous 1.0.1.9 version. My dying GTX 980m can't handle 1.0.2.1. Constant crashes even loading the main game. At least with 1.9 it was running at 25-30fps at 720p.

I'm sorry to hear that such changes were made to the game. That's why I buy from GOG, so that I have control over the games I purchase and am not forced to accept patches/updates/changes whether I want them or not.

Forced updates is one of the main reasons I stopped buying games from Steam.
