Just wondering, GOG, when you will add Windows 8 support? I really want to play this game, and actually was interested in it when it first came out....but I had completely forgotten this title until I saw it on here.

Anyway, I am really hoping to see GOG update with a W8 version, and I know several people have bought the game and are unable to play it due to W8 on their machines.

Unfortunately the only known fix for Windows 8 users involves using the WineD3D libraries. They work, and the game is fast, but the menu items are transparent and almost unusable in-game.

Copy the files ddraw.dll, libwine.dll and wined3d.dll from this archive into your Robin Hood folder and you're good to go.

I submitted a bug report to WineHQ but I doubt it will be looked at any time soon.

Never. You can find that ppl (including me) have been complaining ever since the end of 2012 -> http://www.gog.com/forum/robin_hood_legend_of_sherwood/new_version

This purchasement has been such a huge disappointment for me that I don't buy games on gog anymore. A service claiming to support old titles on a modern system.... yeah right, as long as the game is popular enough and/or it's easy enough. I mean there hasn't been even a single blue post here since W8 came out, all of the support comes from the community, gog isn't even trying.

Perhaps GOG can only do so much legally to get this game working. Also remember that there's a 30-day money-back guarantee if a game doesn't work on your machine.

But if you prefer to get games running on your own, that's fine.
Strangely, on my end, the game seems to work 99% hassle-free on Windows 8.

I had contacted Gog's support, and played through the whole game using the second of two ddraw fixes they suggested...

...and then I reinstalled the game and it seems to work properly. Go figure...

Fix 1 (has the effect described by devilhood)
Fix 2

Thank you. I have been looking everywhere and trying everything to get this working on/through windows 8. Copying the contents of ddraw2.zip into the robin hood folder worked perfectly for me.

Then you should send a word to Gog's support about it. Had you tried running the game without any fix?

Yes, the game was basically unplayable before. It still isn't perfect, if you put enemy vision on the lag comes back, but at least I can give the game a go. I'm going to do some more testing..

Same here, and the enemy vision does not bother me. Just unclick it, you don't need to keep the enemy vision on.

I have just finished it in Windows 8, and I loved the experienced.
As of 20/06/2015 this game works perfectly for me on windows 8.1

Did they finally fix it? What are your specs? Considering buying it if it works.
