Same here. Maybe I should have looked at this forum before buying this game... feels like I bought a demo.
This topic seems to have lost a lot of people confirming the game wasn't working for them. That's not the way to handle bug reports, gog.
Game has been updated.

Played it a bit. So far so good.
Same here.

I figured once the summer sale was over, they would get it fixed promptly. Thanks GOG people.
Seems to work for me too. Finally :)
Gave the new version a shot and it worked well. Better than I expected even. No crashes.

Indeed, new Version worked fine for me. Thanks Chucklefish/GoG Team.
Ditto to the latest update working (1.2.8 (GOG-13)). Thanks guys!
Works now for me. Thx
Just bought & installed today on a Mac. It runs fine the first time. But afterwards, it crashes on startup.

I have the same error. After a few minutes, the game freezes.
I am on Fedora (Linux).

Hey! I had the exact same issue, and I think I found the source!: The Spikestrip item. I started taking screenshots each time the game froze, and two things were always present:
- I was receiving damage.
- Spikestrip was one of the two last items I had acquired.
The definitive proof came after I was already suspecting this. In a run I found Spikestrip as the first item. Got it, and went straight to an enemy to receive damage. First hit: bam! game froze.
I also had some screenshots from good runs without crashes, and guess what? yes, no Spikestrip, hehe.
The screenshots from the crashes: http://imgur.com/a/2jsfx
same here, being hit while carrying the Spikestrip item makes the game freeze.
This happens on Debian Jessie x86_64.
Thanks for the tip, guys!
I'm on a Lubuntu system right now.
I'll try and test the Spikestrip theory.
