I was wondering... did anyone do math on this game?
I think it's impossible to make money with any profession - only with quests.

To wit:
Distilling costs, what, 2000 gold? Then, each bag of sugar 30 gold (can be reduced to 25 if you shell out another 2000 on 3 levels of haggling). And the other ingredients also cost something. But anything I make costs well under 20 gold (rum, grog, whatever). Even if they could be sold for e.g. 40 gold each, the difference of 10 gold per means selling at least 200 of them before I turn profit.

Same goes for blacksmithing, talisman making etc. With talismans, a ring with a sapphire can be sold for less than the sapphire itself.

I think whoever designed this part of the game was either drunk or an anti-capitalist...
