Heavily pixelated Nazis in gray uniforms are easy to distinguish from abstract barely-textured 90-degree walls in the original.

HD Nazis in grey uniforms are nearly impossible to make out against HD textured cement backgrounds in ROTT 2013. So many times I'm being shot and I have no idea where from.

Serious Sam, with its bright and colorful enemies, avoided this problem.

We need a mod for this game to put the Nazis in brightly colored Dr. Evil henchman uniforms so we can see what we need to be shooting at.
Yeah i agree!
But i tried also to turn down all the "eyecandy" and i could spot the enemies more easily.

I dont like when there is to much details. For me the whole image looks noisy and so its hard do focus.
Btw a mod or option to change the weaponsize would be awesome too! I would like them smaller.
I also agree but I think it's not just a visibility problem

The problem I'm having mostly is that enemies are quiet, really, really quiet. I can barely hear their weapons while I'm standing right next to them, much less when they are sniping me from a vantage point. Their yells also aren't loud enough most of the time to give away their positions, so typically I have to wait to get shot until I know which way they are and how far away.

My opinion is that their guns need to be loud, much louder than they are now. So when they're shooting at me, I can hear which direction and how far away they are. I remember that being extremely important in the first game, mostly because aiming upward was something that FPS' of that era hadn't quite grasped yet. So they were almost required to let players know if an enemy was above them or below them with audio cues. I think that would help quite a bit to the visual problem as well.
I absolutely agree, too often the enemies are virtually invisible. More than one time I was wondering "Where the hell does THAT come from?". Enemies blend in with the walls, enemies the shoot you from higher ground while partially being covered by crates and the like, so that only their head is visible. Enemies shooting you out of loopholes, often from riduculous distances.

And yes, the sound they make could be much louder, very often you can´t even hear what hits you.

Another problem is that the indicators on the edge of the screen are not very precise and sometimes even deceiving. Especially when en enemie is hitting you from higher or lower ground the flashes that indicate enemy fire seem to indicate that the bullets are coming from the opposite direction.

The damage indicators could use some work.

One thing that took me ages to realise is that fire, lava etc damages you immediately but also has a damage-over-time effect (i.e. you're burning). Every time the burn tics over, the damage indicator flashes up, so it looks like you're being attacked from wherever you happen to be looking. Very confusing.
